I have experimented with glass, Perspex, canvas and wood. I started on glass to try something new ( having liked Fiona G Roberts perspex paintings ) and I really enjoyed the feeling of painting on it, it was smooth and easy to apply oil paint on. I really enjoyed working on glass because it felt free and I loved the way the painting looked when the light shines through. I wanted to create a floaty, dreamy look to represent how you feel when you have insomnia, and I think I achieved that in my glass painting and other paintings I have done. In achieving this feel, I researched artists such as Frank Auerbach and Barbara Kroll to inspire me with more ideas. I've been really inspired by Frank Auerbach the most in this project because I love his use of colour and his loose brush strokes.

Throughout this project I've been experimenting with colours in order to find the right colour scheme for me that create a dreamy feel. I really liked using the colours blue, yellow and red together.

I also experimented on wood which was new to me. It surprised me how smooth it felt, I thought it would have a harsher texture. I really enjoyed working on wood because the outline of the wood wasn't straight compared to canvas, so it helped add to the feeling of insomnia.
