Elizabeth Glaessner

Elizabeth Glaessner is an American artist, born 1984. She works with the canvas on the floor and pours water dispersed pigment onto the canvas to create an atmosphere. She is flexible in the way that the painting develops, with a background idea and studies on paper to work from but is aware of the balance of controlling the materials and letting the paint 'have its own voice'. She uses intense, vibrant colours, as if they are glowing, almost toxic. Her figures having a very flowing, metamorphic quality, drawn from a wide variety of sources; mythology, everyday objects, literature, landscapes, imagined narratives.
